Opening rubric: "Aus dem 'Buch der Worte des Herrn.'"

"Copied from the ms. German translation made for Scholem by a friend of his of the sections printed in Alexander Kraushar's Frank i frankiści polscy, 1726-1816 ... from [Jacob Frank's] Słowa Pańskie, of which the ms. used by Kraushar was, until the war, in the library of the Jewish community in Warsaw" (note inside front cover); though this translation is not listed in J. Dan and E. Liebes, The Library of Gershom Scholem on Jewish mysiticism: catalogue (Jerusalem, 1999), R. Elior, op. cit., below, p. 473, n. 6, informs us that it was Hadassah Goldgart who translated the Kraushauer extracts into German in 1930, and that her translation is in the Scholem archive, no. 162b)

R. Elior holds that Jacob Frank probably wrote this work in Hebrew, but it survived only in ms. in Polish translations (Lenowitz, op. cit. below, p. xi, thinks Frank composed in Polish) until this German translation was made from Krashauer, and until Fania Scholem translated into Hebrew the entire contents of two Polish mss. (Jagiellonian Library, Krakow, ms. 6968 and 6969) under the title, "Divre ha-adon." J. Doctor, Księga słow panskich (Warsaw, 1997), published those Polish mss. adding material from a ms. in Lublin; although the Hebrew translation has not been published, it may be found in the Scholem collection at the Jewish National Library, Jerusalem, no. 5596.3 (not in the aforementioned catalog) and at an internet link pluto.huji.ac.il/~mselio/haadon-ed-5.pdf; H. Krashauer, who evidently did rework his sources (C. Shmeruk, cited in Elior, ibid., p. 473), used Polish mss. that contained 2300 sections (the Jagiellonian ones cover only 1319), but Krashauer's sources did not survive WWII.

This copy contains sections 69-1775 (H. Goldgart translated all of the extracts, through sect. 2192)

Contains penciled cross references and annotations, some in English.
