Gerson D. Cohen was born in 1924 and was appointed chancellor of the Jewish Theological Seminary in 1972. A scholar of medieval Jewish history, Cohen taught at Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary. From 1950 to 1957 he was the Seminary's librarian. Cohen resigned as Chancellor in 1986 due to ill health, and died in 1991. English, Hebrew Preliminary inventory available in Special Collections Reading Room. |
