Abstract/Description: The papers of Louis Finkelstein, Chancellor of The Jewish Theological Seminary of America between 1940 and 1972, document both his working and private life, including his early rabbinical career at Congregation Kehillah Israel (Bronx, N.Y.), his involvement in the Zionist movement, his relationships with a wide range of rabbinical friends and colleagues across the U.S., his family, his work as chancellor at JTS, and his vast legacy of academic writing. Parts of this collection have been minimally processed or remain unprocessed and may be closed to researchers.
