Note(s): |
Manuscript codex. Title devised by the cataloger. The author of novellae cites Y. Bachrach, Mekor hayim; E. Landau, Noda bi-Yehudah. The novellae may have been penned in Eastern Europe; volume 4 was likely penned in New York since the notebook was produced there (cf. label of N. Y. Printing Printing company inside front cover), and since a name and address in English inside the back cover is in the same red ink and writing style of yiddish jottings there and the text inside. Novellae volumes contain 398, 243, and 234 leaves respectively; pharmacognosy volume contains 17 leaves. Accompanying materials: Letter, New York, 1878 January 10, from Alexander Katzky to David Loge thanking him for an honor bestowed upon Katzky (found inside volume 4; both were members of the Berith Abraham masonic lodge; an Alexander Katzky of Brooklyn was chairman of the National Committe on State of the Order, in 1859 and in 1905) Shelfmark: New York, The Library of The Jewish Theological Seminary, MS 10936. Digitization funded by The National Library of Israel. Hebrew ; Ashkenazic cursive. "Property of Rose Rosensohn Jacobs from mother, June, 1916" (unnumbered front pages of vols. 1 & 2) |
