Abstract/Description: | The revival of interest in religion in America. The erosion of morality and ethical ideals was ignored in favor of counting religious service attendance as the marker of a successful swell of religious adherence. The rabbi who lives up to his vocation is sensitive to the Jewish ethos. He must hold on to what is good and to change what is not good; to embrace change not for its novelty but because it is hope itself, and to revere tradition because it bears the fruit of experience. Against the cult of nostalgia that exists within Judaism. The qualities needed to be successful as a rabbi. | |
