The historical record of the Jewish communities in the vicinity of Baja may be revised in view of our ms. For instance, Pinkas ha-kehillot: Hungaryah records the first date of Jewish settlement in Almes (Bacs) as 1840 (p. 178), whereas our ms. lists circumcisions there in the eighteenth cent.
