Abstract/Description: | The French Jewish Community Records consists of correspondence, notices, business and legal records, clippings, community records, and publications concerning Jewish life in France. Subjects include pre-emancipation economic and legal condition of Jews in Alsace, emancipation during the Revolution and First Empire, anti-Semitism, development of consistorial system, communities in Bordeaux, Bayonne, and Papal Provinces, education, reform movement, growth of Paris as a Jewish center, life under the Vichy government and Nazi occupation, organizational and political life, and others. | |
