Washington, Rev. George L. Fox, Rev. Clark V. Poling and Rabbi Alexander D. Goode of York, Pennsylvania, who, when the ship, the Dorchester, was torpedoed and sunk on February 3, 1943, by a German submarine, in the North Atlantic, gave their life jackets to soldiers who lacked their own, and then with arms locked together died in the sea- each murmuring the prayer of his own faith. They died nobly together - that others might live nobly together - live in brotherhood. Only through the true Brotherhood of Men can come justice and peace - can come freedom from fear and war.
